an update..

Still plugging along at my papers.. two more weeks to go and I should be finished (or, royally screwed).  I have not been stitching much, not even to relieve stress because I've found that a total quilting hiatus is really necessary to keep my focus.  When I need a break from writing I find myself watching old episodes of new-to-me favorite shows, like Ugly Betty (and yes, the Glee addiction is still pretty strong), thank god for Netflix!
We had a playdate this morning with Merrill and Sabrina and I took the opportunity to snap some photos of Merrill's diamond star quilt, which, btw, is offically bigger than mine.  Isn't it amazing?
I loved looking at them side by side-- her quilt totally reads pink/purple to me, but I had to ask her to know what mine read as.. she claims green & blue.  Do you agree?

  1. I'm so suggestible - I don't know what I would say if I hadn't read what she thought. I can see how yours has more greens/blues than hers, for sure, but if I hadn't been primed to see it I'm not sure I would have. One thing for sure, they are both amazing!! I am plugging away on mine - I will soon have to ask you how you finish the edges.

  3. I agree with your color analyses, but I am loving those outer reds, too.

Good luck, and hang in there, girl!

  4. Hmmm Love them both! How do you decide which colors go together? You both seem to have amazing talent for putting the right colors next to each other or do you just stay in the same color families?

  6. Neicee-
I don't know about Jessica, but I don't really put too much thought into color placement. I just try to make sure the colors are not too similar.

  7. Wow - they both look amazing! I agree with your color readings. I think your quilt is reading more blue/green because the reds stand out so much on the edges.

  11. I love both of the quilts! Good luck with your papers - I can relate, I have to write my master thesis the coming months. Like you, I had to put my sewing machine away to keep me from getting distracted. :-)
